Before we go any further, ask yourself the following questions. If you answer “no” to any of these, then a restricted keyway might be something you should seriously consider.
The fact is, unless you have a truly restricted keyway, you really can’t answer yes to any of these questions.

Infact, if the heads of any of your keys match the ones to the right, copies can usually be obtained through almost any hardware store with no questions asked. And just because it says “Do Not Duplicate”, doesn’t mean it can’t be copied!!
Unlike traditional keys which can be copied at most hardware stores, restricted keyways utilize special keyblanks that are either controlled by the manufacturer or the locksmith. What this means is that a key can only be copied with prior authorization. There are different levels of control which we’ll present to you. Most of the time we can use your existing locks and simply replace the existing cylinder with one that contains a restricted keyway, which could potentially save you a great deal of money!
